Playa Mujeres, MX: NYE2016

Happy New Year All! I know I am 13 days late, but better late than never, right?

Mom and I planned another trip to Playa Mujeres, Mexico for New Years Eve, and this time we extended the invite to close family and friends. Once again, we stayed at the Excellence Playa Mujeres, which was just named top all-inclusive resort via Trip Advisor. If you read my post from last year, you know why I love this place so much. By day two the entire staff knows who you are, where you’re from, and what your likes and dislikes are. Seriously, top-notch service.

The hotel hosted another NYE party and the theme this year was “Circus”. They had the flame throwers and clowns. It was so amazing. I loved seeing that staff dress up and get involved with the guests. While the dinner is included, you can buy additional bottles of wine or champagne and have it brought to your table.

I made a serious attempt to get my body in shape prior to heading to Mexico. Listen, I know how much I can eat and drink. I wanted to make sure that I didn’t leave this vacation feeling disgusting. Needless to say I ate pretty much every hour on the hour. I would grab breakfast and visit my favorite omelet lady, Elena–no one can make a better omelet than she can. I would then go back to my lounge chair and sip on mimosas and ship wrecks until 11:30am. Then came the specialty lunch over at Las Olas. Each day they would have a special lunch planned for the guests on the beach, ranging from Mongolian to Paella making class. I’d let that sit for about 45 minutes and then either order nachos or coal fire pizza and wash it down with a few shots at the pool bar. I was pretty much a hot mess everyday. But when I came home, I felt pretty good!

My good friend Marianne had never been to Mexico nonetheless an all-inclusive, she obviously wanted to take advantage of everything the hotel had to offer. Which was so nice and refreshing because I’m normally lame as hell and just get drunk at the pool bar. But we participated in a handful of activities. Such as: archery, game night, cocktail making classes, Latin dance lessons, to a bike tour where we got to hold parrots and baby crocodiles! Honestly, you can do as much or as little as you want!

This resort is not cheap, and rightfully so. I am very very blessed to be able have enough money and time off to come here year after year. To be able to spend time relaxing with a hotel staff that actually cares about me and with family and friends surrounding me. I have so many goals that I want to accomplish for 2017. It’s the year of 30th and I can say, I am off to a fabulous start. Until next time! Xoxo
