Duck Duck Goat

This month’s restaurant pick is Top Chef winner’s new restaurant, Duck Duck Goat. Located in the booming neighborhood of Fulton Market District. The area is known for their wholesale meat warehouse.

Stephanie Izard now has three top restaurants in Chicago. The first being Girl and the Goat. When it first opened and still to this day, the wait list is about three months out. The menu is beyond robust bursting with crazy combinations and bold flavors. Plates are sharable so you really get a chance to explore the entire menu. The pig face is to die for. The second is Little Goat, which is across the street from the Girl and the Goat. This restaurant is more of a diner with a casual atmosphere. To me, their brunch menu is way better than the dinner menu.

Now she has Duck Duck Goat. Her spin on Chinese cuisine highlighting Dim Sum, soups, rice, and noodles on the menu. The wait of course is about three months out. I’ve checked their website everyday for the past month to see if anything has opened. Sure enough I get a phone call from my mom letting me know that they’ve started serving brunch and she was able to secure a reservation…for 10:30 am. I was a little nervous to have such  a heavy meal that early in the morning. But this did not disappoint! When we arrived, not many people were inside, but the ones that were had these huge smiles across their face and I knew right then we were in for a treat. Mom ordered a lavender cocktail which was really light and refreshing. Highly recommended from the staff. I stuck with water. We picked about six items off the menu, all of which was plenty enough to share. I absolutely loved everything I ordered, except for the Jiazo. I do not like bone marrow, I don’t care what anyone has to say about it. Gross. Check out the pictures below.

Overall, this place truly is amazing. It embodies your traditional Chinese restaurant. Whether it’s the decor, the drinks, or the food. I definitely plan to come back!
