Winter is Coming…

Helloooo everyone! It’s been a while! I’ve been so busy over the past couple of weeks, I haven’t had much time to blog. My boyfriend and I went to our last wedding for the year. The wedding was in Wheeling, WV and on Halloween, which wasn’t nearly as tacky as I thought it was going to be. I’m sure you’re wondering, “who gets married in West Virginia”? Don’t worry, I asked myself the same question every time I had to look at the invitation. My boyfriend spent his childhood and early teens growing up in a small town outside of Columbus, OH. So this was one of his good friends that was getting married to a girl that’s from WV.

imageI’ll admit, I was a little nervous about going there. I’m a city girl. I don’t do cows, farms, grass, or the outdoors. I need big tall buildings around me, tons of people, and things to do. Was Wheeling what I thought it was going to be? Yes. A sleepy town that sits on a river with a population of 10,000. The closest Wendy’s is like 10-15 minutes away. And don’t even get my started on the hotel. I’ve mentioned that I am high maintenance when it comes to my sleeping arrangements. For some reason, this seems to be a hard concept for my boyfriend to grasp. I’ll leave you with this…the reviews for the hotel mentioned prostitutes and drug dealing 😤

imageOverall, the wedding was a blast. They had one of the most amazing bands, called Swagg. Check em out if you’re looking for an amazing cover band that plays top 40 music. They are so much fun and are charming and got everyone out of their seats.

I’ve also had a quick work trip to Dallas and San Antonio. Have you ever been to San Antonio’s airport before? I mean, it’s beyond boring, especially when your flight is five hours delayed!!! I hate everything!

The cold front is finally rolling into Chicago. The first week of November we had 70s! Not sure if you’ve ever been to Chicago in the fall, especially November, but it is NEVER like this. If El Nino was a real person, I’d give them a high-five. But now we’re back in the 50s and the wind is knocking my ass all up and down the streets. Chilly air means chili at home! Over the weekend, I made a bomb ass crock-pot chili meal. Crock pot recipes are my favorite because I can sit and watch tv for hours while my food is cooking. If you love being lazy like me, then you’ll enjoy this. Chicago is beyond brutal during winter. It’s also my time to hibernate for 6 months. So I will be sharing a bunch of different soup recipes during my indoor-hibernation stint. Most times I just pull something from Pinterest and then add my own little spin on it. If you have any soups that you love to make, please share!

I modified this recipe and used ground turkey, used fresh jalepenos and waited until about an hour left to add them in. I like them firm and with a little extra kick. I also subbed sour cream with plain Greek yogurt!

Winter also means my boyfriend becomes a caveman. No Shave November? Pleaseeee! Not only is he not shaving, but he’s also growing out his hair! I’m all about men with long hair and man buns. But his hair won’t be silky or styled. It’s this wild creature that just sits on top of his head. And to make matters worse, he’s now adopted head bands. He wears under armour head bands around the house…December can’t come fast enough.

imageThanksgiving is also around the corner, and I am putting together my first Friendsgiving. I’m thinking roasted chicken (because I don’t feel like making a turkey), mac and cheese, stuffing cupcakes, roasted brussel sprouts with bacon, parmesan garlic roasted potatoes, and apple pie sangria. That should be enough for like 7-8 people, right? Again, this is my first time doing this, so I’ll need all the help I can get! Until next time! Xoxo
